Sunrise festival to include new series of events on holistic spirituality

A programme of events focused on spirituality will take place at Sunrise Celebration festival in Somerset this June

Hosted by a new public relations company called Conscious Frontiers, which aims to support holistic, green, inter-cultural and arts initiatives, the programme will include daily talks, workshops and performances exploring spirituality and the theme of love. The line-up includes eco activists, philosophers, authors, sound healers, poets, dancers and musicians.

Poet Rebecca Tantony will launch the Conscious Frontiers programme and set the tone for following acts with a reading of her poem Love. Sunrise’s overall theme of ‘another world is possible’ will also be explored, including in a talk by Resurgence editor Satish Kumar about his vision for the future wellbeing of humanity and the nurturing of community.

Among others, there will be performances from sound healer Tim Wheater, music from peaceful freedom fighters The Lani Singers of West Papua to raise awareness of the plight of their tribe, and a workshop titled Unleash Your Creative Genius from Jamie Catto, a co-founder of Faithless.

‘Extreme pilgrim’ Peter Owen Jones will conclude the programme with his talk Tipping Point, detailing his thoughts on 2012 as a potential dawning of a new way of living on Earth.

As well as live acts, there will be several film screenings including one of the first showings of Road to Peace, which follows the Dalai Lama on recent tours. The launch of the film and the screening at Sunrise will coincide with the Tibetan spiritual leader’s UK visit this June.

“Conscious Frontiers aims to give voice to the growing movement of people working to propel a shift in consciousness,” said Conscious Frontiers founder Will Gethin, who established the company in February 2012, having previously worked as a travel writer and communications consultant. “We hope festival goers will find plenty to stir their minds and hearts, and leave inspired to spread positive ripples of love out into the world.”

Sunrise Celebration festival takes place 21-24 June in Bruton, Somerset. Conscious Frontiers will run daily in the festival’s Green Talks Dome.
