Website aims to boost local food industry

A website helping people to find and buy local food online has launched an appeal for investors to help it reach a wider audience and grow the local food industry faster

BigBarn, a community interest company working to support local food producers, said research shows that 80% of the population want to buy local food. It wants to make it easier for people to do this, through their online marketplace of local food retailers.

“Whether we’re looking for food we can trust, are concerned with food miles, animal welfare, factory farming or food scares, local food provides the answer,” says Anthony Davison, BigBarn’s founder and managing director.
