About this nominee

Clowns Without Borders UK help to make life a little better for some of the most vulnerable children in the world. The charity works in refugee camps around the world, putting on performances that bring joy and laughter to children displaced from their homes by war or natural disaster. Professional clowns and circus performers volunteer their time for free, to put on shows and help ease the suffering of refugee children through play.

How would they use the funding?

The charity will be able to send artists and performers to three more refugee camps in Greece during 2020. They say: “That means three times more playing, dancing, singing and wiggling with children who need it the most. We will also use this money to collaborate with wonderful local performers and facilitators to ensure the laughter and joy we share is as far-reaching and as sustainable as possible.”
