New cancer-detecting blood test developed

New ‘game changing’ blood test could help detect eight types of cancer earlier

Thousands of lives could be saved by an “enormously exciting” blood test, which scientists say offers early diagnosis of eight cancer types. The test was trialled on 1,000 patients in the US with early-stage cancer. On 70 per cent of occasions the CancerSEEK ‘liquid biopsy’ detected tumours.

Researchers said it could be a “game changer” and hope the test will be widely available within a few years.
