Thousands expected at Australian total eclipse mega-party

A week-long celebration of November’s total solar eclipse is due to take place in Queensland

Thousands of artists, visionaries and futurists are due to come together this November for a huge total eclipse and electronic dance music party in Queensland, which is on the line of totality – where the eclipse lasts the longest.

The week-long learning, sharing and celebration event has been created by the team behind the renowned Australian Rainbow Serpent Festival, the UK’s Glade Festival, USA’s Symbiosis Festival and Japan’s Mother event.

Running from 10-16 November, it features a large selection of underground electronic music artists from all corners of the globe across four stages, as well as a vibrant arts program.

The Sun Stage is billed as a “one-stop destination for feet-pounding aural delicacies”; the Moon Stage features “the best of the world’s breakbeat acts”; the Earth Stage, situated next to a beautiful lake will be home to a myriad of genres including reggae, gypsy, house and disco; and the Chill Temple is for festival-goers in need of more ambient tunes.

The arts programme features dance and movement workshops, massage, healing, and arts and crafts, along with social-change workshops and environmental discussion panels. And, the Eclipse Village will offer a family-friendly space for “discovery, sharing and enrichment.”

The festival will take place on an expansive 500-square-mile cattle station, which the creators say has natural views stretching out across an undulating tree-covered landscape.

Camping facilities include toilets, free water and showers, plus quiet areas for families. Children under 15 go free with a paying adult, and there are several ticket packages available.
