The Indigenous Photograph database gives a platform to indigenous storytellers, whose perspectives are often missing in the media
It began in 2018 as a database of indigenous visual storytellers from across North America. Now the resource has relaunched as Indigenous Photograph: a global community of photographers who seek to bring balance to the way stories are told about indigenous people.
Its database is available to photo editors, creative directors, and others who routinely hire photographers. It is an effort to redress the fact that, historically, narratives about indigenous people have often been in the hands of non-indigenous people.
