Movie maker to announce at least one film with a female director within 18 months
Universal Studios has become the first major film production company to accept the 4% Challenge, which calls on movie makers to announce at least one film with a female director within 18 months.
Its name is a reference to research that revealed just 4 per cent of the last decade’s 1,000 highest-grossing films had female directors. It is part of the Time’s Up movement: a bid to end harassment and discrimination in Hollywood.
