Slovenia’s parliament adopts amendment that declares the country’s water supplies are ‘a public good managed by the state’ and ‘not a market commodity’

Slovenia has added water to its constitution as a fundamental right for all. The water-rich nation, which has a population of 2 million, adopted an amendment at the end of 2016 declaring that the country’s supplies are “a public good managed by the state” and “not a market commodity”. It is the first EU country to take the step.
