New guidelines set out by the CMI and the British Academy of Management could lead to greater diversity in the workplace and help boost the UK economy
Britain’s biggest businesses must improve the diversity of their workforces, beginning by disclosing how many black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) employees they have, a report released this summer urged.
It comes from professional management body the CMI and the British Academy of Management.
It is estimated that £24bn could be added to the UK economy annually
Around 12.5 per cent of the UK population are BAME but they hold just six per cent of top management jobs. It is estimated that £24bn could be added to the UK economy annually if people from minorities were able to progress through their careers at the same rate as their white counterparts.
