Youth Contribute to Tsunami Relief Effort

From Romania to Malaysia, young people are playing inspiring roles joining the relief efforts of governments and aid agencies. Catalina, age 18, from Bogot·, in Colombia, has been organising a book drive. Her plan is to raise funds to buy school books and supplies for children in the affected regions. This effort is echoed on the other side of the globe in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Osvia, age 21, is organising a charity event involving a talent show with performances by high school students, the proceeds of which will go to Aceh, one of the hardest hit parts of his country. It is clear the tsunami brought destruction and damage beyond belief but what is less obvious are the waves of compassion and solidarity that have also had a global impact.
