The Bristol Vegan Fayre 2006

A huge crowd is expected to gather in the Centre of Bristol for the 4th annual Bristol Vegan Fayre on Saturday June 10th 2006, organised by Bristol firm Yaoh and held in the L Shed, Bristol from 10am.

Last years event saw an estimated 6,000 people gather and that figure is expected to double – especially if the weather is good.

The event coincides with England’s opening World Cup Football game against Paraguay (kick off 2pm). As well as screening the game live outside the L Shed, the organisers of The Bristol Vegan Fayre are staging a World Cup Food Festival. Caterers from Bristol and beyond will serve a variety of vegan food from across the globe, uniting cultures from across the globe in a language we all understand – food, festivals and football.

There will be an outdoor stage with the football, live bands, DJ’s and Brazilian carnival girls to add to the party atmosphere, with a best sombrero competition (first prize £100) open to the public.

New additions to the show also include a health and fitness zone, with stalls, workshops, talks and demos focusing on vegan fitness and nutrition, including bodybuilding, running and martial arts. And for the fist time there will also be an animal welfare area, which includes first aid workshops for pets, plus stalls from Animal Sanctuaries and talks from people who work with animals.

The demonstration area will include several cookery demos plus food sampling and a vegan fashion show, and is hosted by celebrated vegan author Tony Bishop Weston. An expected 130 different stalls featuring food, services, products and information covering all aspects of the vegan lifestyle will make up the rest of the show, which is once again free to the public.

‘The vegan lifestyle is an evolutionary step for the human race’ says Tim from Yaoh, the organisers. ‘It’s more compassionate, more sustainable, and healthier for everyone. It’s an idea whose time has come. It’s also the best excuse for a big party I could think of.’
