Now open for applications!

Positive News Trust is offering training placements in solution-focussed journalism for young people.

Based at the Positive News offices in Shropshire, the role involves research and writing news articles and features, as well as general assistance to the Positive News editorial team.

You will be mentored by a media professional throughout the placement and will gain key skills and experience while learning about our solution-focused approach to news reporting and all aspects of producing the Positive News publication.

Placements will run throughout 2012 and are usually 3 or 6 months in length, although other durations can be arranged. Placements are on a volunteer basis with a weekly expenses payment.

If you are aged 16-25 and interested in applying, please contact the editor, Seán Dagan Wood to request an application form or to find out more: email [email protected] or phone: 01588 640 022

Feedback from young people who have recently undertaken placements at Positive News:

“During my time at Positive News, I’ve given more thought towards the ethical implications of reporting, while gaining invaluable experience for a future in the highly competitive industry of journalism.”
– Tom Goulding (20), editorial intern, summer 2011

“Working at Positive News was very fulfilling. I gained a lot of new skills that will really help me to develop my writing ability. It’s hard to get such quality experience nowadays, so it was an opportunity not to be missed. The staff made me feel like a member of the team from the moment I arrived – it was a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience.”
– Imogen Dunworth-Warby (18), work experience student, summer 2011

“It’s exciting being part of a growing movement in the media industry. Working here has made me realise that there are lots of people making a real difference.”
– Christie Toal (20), editorial intern, summer 2011
