Hedge fund managers learn about investing ethically

A series of ethical investment debates and talks aimed at hedge fund managers, charities who invest in private companies, and the public, kicks off this week

Running from 10-18 October 2012, National Ethical Investment Week is designed to raise awareness of the availability of green and ethical financial options and to get people thinking about doing good with their money, as well as making a profit.

The week will begin on 10 October with a webinar for financial advisors. Penny Shepherd MBE, chief executive of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF), will speak at the event. Other sessions include a ‘Tea and cake debate’ hosted in London on 15 October by the founders of new ethical investment brokerage service Ethex, and a session for wealth managers hosted by the Financial Times on the 17 October. There are also debates on ‘How to change the City’ and a celebration of the ‘Heroes of ethical investment’ on 11 October.

The week is organised by UKSIF, a membership network for sustainable and responsible financial services. In 2011, more than 350 financial organisations got involved in 38 events across the UK for National Ethical Investment Week.
