The Sunshine Coast Energy Action Centre (SEAC) has recently been accepted into the Transition Town Network ñ a first for Australia ñ based on the inspiring Kinsale 2010 Energy Descent Action Plan originating from Cork, Ireland.

‘It is a real sign of how rapidly the idea is spreading and the enthusiasm with which people are picking it up,’ says Rob Hopkins.

SEAC is offering information and details on a range of community education courses to suit all tastes and budgets. From free workshops to one-day introductory sessions and long-term intensive and accredited programmes. Their Time for an Oil Change course has been designed specifically to address individual, community and regional preparation for energy descent by addressing both climate change and peak oil.

‘I guess you could say that SEAC is preparing for energy descent by learning how to run on the smell of an oily rag,’ says SEAC Co-ordinator Sonya Wallace.
