This year marks the mid-term of the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010) as well as the launch of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). The Goi Peace Foundation and the World Peace Prayer Society are contributing to these global initiatives by inviting young people from around the world to submit their creative ideas on the theme of: Caring for Our Planet in their International Essay Contest.
Human beings are dependent upon nature and our relations with other people. However, human activities are harming our planet in various ways. How can we build a global society in which everyone can enjoy a good and happy life while also caring for our planet? What things can you do in your daily life or in your community?
The Goi Peace Foundation is inviting essays of 800 words by anyone up to the age of twenty-five in two categories ñ children aged up to 15 and youths aged from 16 to 25. The essays may be typed or printed in English, Spanish, German or French and they must be submitted before 30th June 2005.
